Buckeye Terminator EPA REG#
6836-75-559 has been approved by the U.S. EPA to carry the claim to be
effective in killing the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). Approval came on March
31, 2003.
This fact sheet contains the
necessary label copy to give proper label guidance on how to use the products
to disinfect hard non-porous surfaces for HCV. Use this fact sheet until
the product labels are revised to include this claim.
*KILLS HIV-1, HBV AND HCV ON
PRE-CLEANED, ENVIRONMENTAL SURFACES / OBJECTS PREVIOUSLY
SOILED WITH BLOOD/BODY FLUIDS in health care settings or other settings in
which there is an expected likelihood of soiling of inanimate surfaces /
objects
with blood or body fluids, and in which the surfaces / objects likely to be soiled
with blood or body fluids can be associated with the potential for transmission
of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) (associated with AIDS),
Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)..
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING
AND DECONTAMINATION AGAINST HIV-1, HBV and HCV ON SURFACES / OBJECTS SOILED WITH
BLOOD / BODY FLUIDS:
Personal Protection: Clean
up should always be done wearing protective latex gloves, gowns, masks and eye
protection.
Cleaning Procedures: Blood
and other body
fluids containing HIV-1 or HBV or HCV must be thoroughly cleaned from surfaces
and objects before application of Buckeye Terminator.
Contact Time: Leave
surface wet for 1 minute (60 seconds) for HIV-1 and 10 minutes for HBV and HCV
with a 2 oz. per gallon use-solution. Use a 10 minute contact time for
disinfecting against all other viruses, bacteria and fungi claimed.
Disposal of Infectious
Materials: Blood, body fluids, cleaning material and clothing should be autoclaved and disposed of
according to local regulations for infectious waste
disposal.
